On Tuesday morning midst plenty of drama, the Denver Broncos have announced they will release middle linebacker Joe Mays.
Joe Mays recently signed a three-year deal worth $12 million. Mays was primed was to start in 2012 after a strong 2011 performance, but was hampered by an injury that kept him out most of the season. In three years with the Denver Broncos, Joe Mays collected 153 tackles, .5 sacks and 1 forced fumble in 45 games.
The release of the linebacker will save the Broncos just over $3.3 million on salary cap relief. There will also be just over $833,00 in dead money counting for the cap.
