Colorado Rockies Carlos Gonzalez Re-Aggravates Finger, Season on Life Support

Carlos Gonzalez recently re-aggravated his middle finger in a game against the Atlanta Braves. The injury originally occurred on July 7th against the Arizona Diamondbacks and hasn't been able to fully heal since. The good news for Carlos Gonzalez is he is not expected to go on the disabled list, but the bad news is the Rockies need him now. However, the Rockies expect to sit him the next few games and they'll reevaluate Gonzalez then.

The injury couldn't have come at a worse time for the Rockies. The Rockies are 3-7 in their last 10 games and they continue to fall further and further from the Dodgers. The Rockies sit back 7.5 games behind the Dodgers. Losing their leader in HRs and RBIs in the lineup doesn't make things any easier for the team.

The goodwill and interest the Rockies gained early from fans has started to dwindle after their struggles over the 2nd half of the season. With the Denver Broncos season just about to start, the Rockies have taken a backseat in Denver. The team is still mathematically in it at 7.5 games, but they need to start winning now. If they continue to go .500 ball or worse, their season will be taken off life support and pronounced dead.
