Fantasy Football week 2: Waiver wire

Congrats to those who picked up their first victories of the young fantasy football season. For those that weren't able to find themselves on the side of victory, don't panic. The season is still very young and even if your team isn't the most talented, there's still talent available on the waiver wire.

1. WR Julian Edelman - Julian Edelman is the biggest piece to be had on the waiver wire in my opinion. Edelman is coming off a very impressive week 1 where had 7 receptions for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns. Do not expect Edelman to disappear in week 2 either. The amount of new faces in NE's WR/TE core has left QB Tom Brady and his new cast not always be on the same page. Because of this, Brady leaned heavily on his vets in week 1, which boded well for Edelman. To make Edelmen's fantasy stock rise even more, #1 WR Danny Amendola is most likely going to be ruled out of week 2. This means more Edelmen.

2. RB Joique Bell - Many people may have made the mistake of picking up RB Mikel Leshoure, either because you thought he had good fantasy value or as a just in case to RB Reggie Bush. It appears that's not the case in Detroit. RB Joique Bell is going to be the man if Reggie Bush goes down and even if Bush is healthy, Bell looks to get quite a bit of carries himself in each game if week 1 has any indication. Though Bell only rushed 6 times for 25 yards, he did score 2 goal line touchdowns. He also had 5 receptions for 67 yards. With Reggie Bush already dealing with a thumb and groin injury, look for Bell to come up big again.

3. WR Leonard Hankerson - In his first two years, Hankerson put up meager stats. However, it appears a light has flipped on in his third year. Hankerson appears to be RG3's new favorite red zone target. Hankerson finished with 5 receptions for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns (10 and 24 yards). Though Hankerson may not be the "#1" in Washington like WR Pierre Garcion yet, the Redskins offensive style makes Hankerson a solid #2 or great #3 WR for many fantasy teams.

If you are high on the waiver wire rankings because of a loss, it'd be wise to take full advantage of it. The first few weeks always provide some great sleeper pickups that can help carry a team to the postseason. Do your fantasy team a favor and make a claim on one of these guys.
